The veritable roots of the Bodenmaiser Hof ... Josef and Katharina Haller (the great-great-grandparents of the most recent addition to the family!) set up a small factory producing lemonade and malt beer.
The small “factory” was taken over by their daughter, Rosa Haller, our dear grandma!
Rosa married Wolfgang Josef Geiger, our grandfather...
The factory now had a restaurant built onto it that was called the “Bahnhofgaststätte” (The Station Restaurant)
…and 15 years later it was renamed the “Bodenmaiser Hof”.
A hotel section with guest rooms was then added. After the sudden death of her husband at only 46 years of age, Rosa Geiger was left all on her own to manage 3 small children and a construction site...
Wolfgang and Anita Geiger took over the business and in the following years gradually enlarged the small hotel to its current size:
The first large expansion (1996) was the winter garden
adjoining the restaurant, then the connecting tunnel between the buildings and
underground car park; next was the
laying of the foundation stone for the hotel’s very own private distillery
(2000), then came the wellness area with an indoor area of 350 sqm. of spa
facilities, as well as the outdoor garden area (2007 ). This was followed by
the new hotel kitchen, the new restaurant with its show kitchen and the new
large buffet area (2009). In 2015, the last large building project was
completed, and ....... the Geigers and now the Geiger-Pauli family have many
more visions in mind.
After many “formative years” of doing various apprenticeships to become a chef, a hotel manageress and a state-certified hospitality specialist (at the Bayerischer Hof in Munich, the Residenz Heinz Winkler in Aschau, the Sonnenalp in Ofterschwang), Sandra Geiger-Pauli returned to the Bodenmaiser Hof. Since then she has been working for her parents’ business with her husband Anton Pauli.
Their son Leopold Wolfgang was born - and will one day hopefully continue the tradition of the Bodenmaiser Hof ...
... Mathilda Rosa, their daughter, was born ...
... Sandra and Anton’s youngest offspring, Johann Anton, saw the light of day, making the family of five complete. :-)
